Fluo

Xintiandi Plaza

Animated film & public installation

Shanghai, 2019

A playful, hyper-feminine transformation of matter and movement.

Created for Social House at Xintiandi Plaza and commissioned by Output, Fluo is an animated film intended to promote the physicality of Social House, using motion techniques around the themes of materiality, fluidity, reactivity and expansion.

The aim and structure of the animation uses the verticality of the space, applied across 12 large screens with varying dimensions and timing patterns in order to feel multifaceted.

Fluo joyfully referencing the height and natural forces such as gravity, in order to feel fully custom to the intended space.

Fluo was created to provide enticement around the Social House area of the plaza, which was designed for the Gen Z customer in mind.

Fluo is currently on display in the Xintiandi Plaza Mall, in Shanghai’s popular shopping district of Xintiandi, with over 1 million estimated visitors per year.
