ANIMATED FILM & STILLS
2025
Emotive stories of colour, material and finish, driven by consumer insights.
Commissioned by WGSN and Coloro for the SS27 Key Colours campaign, we created a series of animated films and still imagery that aimed to form a correlation between emotively visual storytelling and material narratives.
Colour is a powerful force that resonates within the body in terms of associations, memory and instinct - this became the starting point of our collaboration with WGSN and Coloro.
The series of work goes beyond the power of colour to build emotional stories around their origin and concept, driven by research insights and the intended response from consumers.
Each colour’s story goes on a transformation within their films, set in abstract yet familiar environments, beginning and ending with altered forms, materials and realities.
Interconnectedness became a defining theme for the project's direction, with a focus on colour and emotion creating a sensory link that is grounded in culture, wisdom and community.
Additionally there were interconnections between polarities throughout, providing balance across the palette; nature and technology, ancient and contemporary, rationality and spirituality.
‘The future is in the past’
Luminous Blue is 2027’s Colour of the Year, bridging the timeline of an ancient yet futuristic colour, ranging in forms of mythological statues to automotive algorithm-like sculptures.

We begin with an ancient statue coated in luminous cobalt powder, striking in colour yet connected to earth and artistry, representing knowledge and wisdom.
The form energetically bends and expands, going from structured to freeform as if calculating an algorithm, giving a nod to AI and future technologies.
Luminous Blue is both mysterious and eccentric, its futuristically refined sculpture references that all creation comes from past knowledge, without this innovation wouldn’t be possible.
‘Loveliest of what I leave behind is the sunlight’
Energy Orange emerges as a high-vibrancy hue that demonstrates resilience in the face of change, corresponding to a consumer desire for safety and protection.
This mood enhancing scene focuses on a glass form in a surreal landscape, where a warm sunset dominates the environment.

We witness fiery flowers emerge and grow as the material texture changes, inspired by the Zinnia Nasa flower, the first flowers to grow and bloom in space.
Energy Orange brings us to a state of vitality, abundance and positivity, setting the stage for hope and ultimately the internal strength to take risks.

‘On Wednesdays we wear pink.’
Pop Pink taps into pure joy, playfulness and nostalgia on a strategic consumer level.
Inspired by design products that represent both serious and unserious fun, we were drawn to nostalgic wearables and toys from our childhood as well as speculative pieces.
These playful trinkets are a form of carefree expressive identity, an attachment or pet of yourself.

We created a custom keychain that swings, dangles and bounces onto inflated surfaces before satisfyingly landing into a pillow-soft form, as if ‘set’ in time.
Pop Pink intends to have a sense of purpose beyond the playfulness, that is driven by self-expression and personal identity, while capturing an infectious moment reminiscent of y2k pop culture.

‘If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together’
Meadowland Green represents a deep nourishment from our interconnections, relationships and experiences, taking inspiration from symbiotic ecosystems within nature.

To embody new life, we begin with a floating seedling at what appears to be macro scale, the strands suddenly grow and expand creating a network of branches.
Our organic patterns of agile branches welcome life and biodiversity, reminiscent of slime mold or brain synapses, this organic tapestry visualises unity and serenity.
Meadowland Green aims to evoke a sense of rest and tranquillity, representing a slower pace of life to recognise that the 'me' cannot exist without the 'we'.

‘...passing from one kind of time to another, from life yesterday to life tomorrow.’
Clay embodies a grounded, resilient and versatile nature, with the potential to be transformative through both ancestral and futuristic renewable applications.
The visual interpretation of Clay focuses on its resilience, versatility and malleability through transformation.

Starting with the raw material, we witness an invisible force curving around the form, sculpting geometric lines and patterns around the clay, as if documenting something ancestral yet rhythmic such as the passing of time.
We finish inside the form, revealing a futuristic yet earthy Dune-esque environment.
Clay balances sustainable functionality and natural beauty, with its cooling properties and time-honoured tones that can find solutions to climate issues.

The WGSN x Coloro SS27 Key Colours Campaign went live online in June 2025 with both WGSN and Coloro’s audiences.
