Bubbles of Serenity

Greenwich Peninsula

MOVING IMAGE, AR AND Public installation

London, 2023

A multi-sensory installation providing festive escapism with transforming bubbles and winter landscapes.

Commissioned by Greenwich Peninsula for the winter holiday season, Bubbles of Serenity is a multi-sensory installation depicting nature’s seasonal changes through digital landscapes and playful bubbles.

Showcasing the studio’s characteristic experimentation on an expansive scale, the installation incorporates moving image, LED screens, light projection, AR filter, static artwork and audio, creating an interactive, multi-layered experience.

Setting itself apart from traditional Christmas motifs, Bubbles of Serenity offers a different festive experience for visitors.

Inspired by themes of community, celebration and connection, the visually engaging and interactive installation aims to bring a wide range of communities together for an opportunity of calm and re-connection to one another in what is considered to be one of the busiest seasons.

Alongside nature-inspired utopian landscapes with human-like characters, the bubble acts as our protagonist transitioning throughout the space from translucent to crystalized and jewel-like, witnessing a change of seasons in a joyful, positive light.

Bubbles of Serenity begins from North Greenwich station stepping onto Peninsula Square.
The sparkling, joyful bubbles lead visitors past NOW Gallery, past Canteen and into the Bureau and D4 buildings within Design District, where screens, projections and sculptural elements take over the distinctive space and architecture.

Working collaboratively with KitMapper and the Greenwich Peninsula team for production, the installation involved custom install methods and physical builds across multiple buildings, creating our largest outdoor project to date.

To celebrate the launch of Bubbles of Serenity, we collaborated with Baesianz to curate A Spotlight on Digital Design, an evening exploring digital design through an Asian perspective.

The event offered a diverse range of activities including talks, panels, film screenings and workshops with artists Lawrence Lek, Natalie Liu and Zaiba Jabbar.

Bubbles of Serenity headlined Greenwich Peninsula’s Winter On The Peninsula launch, receiving thousands of visitors since it’s launch in November, with over 4000 people accessing the AR filter available via mobile devices on the Greenwich Peninsula Instagram here.

The installation is on display until the end of January 2024.
